"....Live Everyday Like There Is No Tomorrow, That
Is Why It Is Called The Present."

Finnigan's Wake Oct. 2004

These are the unforgettable words of Mickey Gallagher who died of a heart problem in 2002. On Oct. 17th 2004, Finnigan's Wake had a benefit for Mickey Gallagher, where all his friends and relatives gathered in memory of him. To all those who knew Mickey, he was a vibrant and generous person who everybody loved. An alumni of Northeast Catholic HS who was the chairman of a group for organ donors.   He encouraged young people to become organ donors. He was also a roadie for local acts and bands in the area.

The benefit was a gathering of fun loving and warm people who share one thing... they lost someone special and that is Mickey. I had never felt such warm welcome in an Irish bar before, considering I had never met these people before.

There were two bands who played that night. One of them was Secret Service which is a two-man band. I was pretty impressed, all they had was the lead singer and the guitarist. No drummer, no bassist and they still had the crowd jumping and dancing to their tunes! Then I realized this band is pretty old when Dom (vocals) screamed, "Yeah, Class of 1979!!". Whoa! I wasn't even born then. I was not even conceived yet. But they rocked the place with 80's songs and also some 70's and 60's. I do know a lot of the songs they sang, for your information, so I was jamming with them too.

Then a short film about Mickey's last days was shown on a big screen. Everybody watched attentively and for a few moments the place was filled with sincere silence remembering Mickey. After that, the place was full of happiness again and everybody was enjoying the night, which was also called the "present".
